The Best Christmas Light Displays in the St. Louis Area

One of the things I look forward to each holiday season is visiting one of the many Christmas light displays the St. Louis area has to offer. Every year, St. Louis icons such as the St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Botanical Gardens, and Grant’s Farm transform their property with millions of twinkling lights for guests to enjoy. Several parks in the area become beautifully lit holiday displays as well. There is something for everyone to enjoy! So, grab the family and get in the Christmas spirit at one (or all) of these amazing Christmas light displays in the St. Louis area.

1. Celebration of Lights (O’Fallon, MO)

Celebration of Lights is held every year at Fort Zumwalt Park in O’Fallon, MO. This is one of the area’s largest light displays, featuring beautifully bright LED lights. To make it even better, each scene is designed and funded by local organizations, churches, and businesses, bringing a unique community aspect to the attraction. They also offer specialty rides on horse-drawn carriages, tractor-pulled hayrides, or the city train as well as a few evenings where you can walk through the display at the Old-Fashioned Holiday Stroll.

2. Holiday Night Lights (Wentzville, MO)

The annual Holiday Night Lights display is held at Rotary Park in the City of Wentzville. This one-mile drive-through display features commercial scenes and a twinkling light tunnel. They offer sleigh hayrides and carriage rides as well as select times to visit Santa, and a special night to walk to the lights and enjoy some extra festivities.

3. Santa’s Magical Kingdom (Pacific, MO)

Santa’s Magical Kingdom, located at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Eureka, MO, will connect you with your inner child and delight the whole family. You will find over 4 million lights on the 35 acres of property. In addition to driving through the display, Santa’s Magical Kingdom also offers train and wagon rides as well as an onsite store with tons of unique and personalized gifts.

4. Dasher’s Lightshow (Hazelwood, MO)

Dasher’s Lightshow is a new drive-through light experience in Hazelwood, MO. The show features syncing lights that dance to your favorite holiday tunes, beautifully lit tunnels, and more! If you are 21 or older, you can also stop at Dasher’s Dive Bar for holiday cocktails, beers, and snacks in an immersive Christmas atmosphere.

5. Winter Wonderland at Tilles Park (St. Louis, MO)

Winter Wonderland at Tilles Park is located in St. Louis County, very close to the City of Brentwood, near Downtown St. Louis. This display has been around since 1986 and is one of the area’s most popular Christmas light displays. The show can be enjoyed as a drive-through experience, or on foot during select evenings. You can also book carriage rides through the park. The show features over a million glimmering lights on 75 acres of parkland. You will see over 100 displays of winter scenes and holiday characters.

6. Holiday Lights at Grant’s Farm (St. Louis, MO)

Grant’s Farm is one of the St. Louis area staples. This historic site typically offers animal attractions, shows and education, and beautiful Clydesdale horses, made famous by Budweiser, another St. Louis icon. During the holiday season, the park is transformed into a drive-through light show featuring over 1 million lights. Here, you will enjoy beautiful scenes of the North Pole, animal viewings, a tunnel of dancing lights, and a 50-foot-tall tree with dancing lights.

7. Wild Lights at the St. Louis Zoo (St. Louis, MO)

Another St. Louis staple, the St. Louis Zoo, also transforms their property into a beautiful winter wonderland for the holiday season. The Wild Lights at the St. Louis Zoo is a ticketed event where you can enjoy select animals as well as uniquely themed light displays throughout the property. You will definitely want to bundle up because everything is outside, but my family has always found Wild Lights at the Zoo to be worth the visit!

8. Garden Glow (St. Louis, MO)

The Missouri Botanical Garden is the nation’s oldest botanical garden in continuous operation, having been founded in 1859. It is also a National Historic Landmark, and a beautiful place to visit all year round. Each holiday season, they add to the natural beauty of the gardens with their annual Garden Glow event, which features over one million dazzling lights as well as other festive activities. This is a unique, walk-through experience that everyone in your family is sure to love!

9. Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights (St. Louis, MO)

Anheuser-Busch Brewery offers tours all year, but during the holiday season, they transform the property to include beautiful light scenes to celebrate Christmas. You can experience the magic of over 1 million twinkling lights, and, if you are 21 and over, enjoy a complimentary beer from the brewery. Featuring a light show, 22-foot tall digital holiday tree, and expanded kids zone, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights are the perfect destination for your family this holiday season.

10. Way of Lights at Our Lady of the Snows (Belleville, IL)

The Way of Lights at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL (a part of the Greater St. Louis Area) is a Christmas light display I remember visiting a lot as a kid! This gorgeous display focuses on the birth of Christ and features nativity scenes and more. While there, you can enjoy other activities like their quilt raffle, decorated Christmas trees, live animal rides, snacks, and more.
