Considered a suburb of St. Louis, Chesterfield, Missouri is a city located in St. Louis County. The 14th largest city in the state, Chesterfield is home to nearly 50,000 residents. Incorporated in 1988, Chesterfield is a short distance, 25 miles, from downtown St. Louis along Interstate 64.
Portions of Chesterfield are located in the floodplain of the Missouri River and is now referred to as Chesterfield Valley. It was formerly known as Gumbo Flats as the soil, when wet, resembled Gumbo.
